Emergency Response (ER) is the process of securing the safety for people and assets by addressing and mitigating different crisis – managed under a Crisis Management system.
An end-to-end Emergency Response process is divided into three distinct steps:
Emergency Preparedness (EP) is the capacity of individuals and organizations to respond to crisis. Organizations must hence have plans, tools and resources ready so they can respond quickly, precise and coordinated to ensure the safety if a crisis occurs.
The response to a crisis is performance by an Emergency Response Team (ERT) with its capabilities set forth from the Emergency Preparedness phase. An emergency response lasts until the actual crisis event is confirmed contained.
This phase addresses all activities accumulated from the actual emergency event that has to be handled in order to return to a defined normal state.
